I'm located in Western Massachusetts.approx. : If your interested, I will send a photo of it. : I bought my Red Egmond Electric semi-acoustic bass in 1965. Hoping to hear from any of you guitar "rockers" out there. Any information that could be provided would be appreciated. I don't really have any sentimental attachment to it, so if anyone is interested in it, I might consider selling it if the price or value could be determined. I would like to get an idea of how old it is or possibly when it was made.

I am still trying to research it through the serial number. Despite the few dings, I would say it is in excellent condition otherwise. Since he stocked various instruments, I can't say how long it might have been in his store. I remember it being in my mothers possession in the mid to late 60's, but I don't know if her father ordered it directly from the manufacturer, a wholesaler, or bought or traded it through his music store. I have been unable to go back to locate that picture. I did a good bit of research on this particular guitar and found a picture of John Lennon in his early pre-Beatles years playing a very close looking Egmond guitar, but that was a while ago and I never printed it out. There are a few slight dings on the edges, but there is absolutely no wear or scratches on it since no one ever played it. It has only been out of the case maybe a half dozen times. My mother played the piano and wanted to learn to play the guitar, but never had the time. He played almost every musical instrment and also owned a music shop and bought, sold and traded instruments, sheet music, records and albums, etc.

My mother got this guitar back in the mid to late 60's from her father, who was a professional musician. The head is an arch with the name Egmond lettered in gold and a metal plate with 3 screws between the head and neck "Made in Holland." The serial # is imprinted on the reverse side of the head vertically between the tuning heads.
The guard is white and the bridge is adjustable with two round rollers. The body is a golden color center with darker shading around the outside.
Once you have heard the stuff you won’t go back.I have an Egmond 6 string f-hole guitar. It’s all about the look, the attitude and most importantly “The Sound!” And they have all that and bags of it. These guitars and amps and the recording gear they went through, create that sound we love, and can’t be recreated in a piece of software. Clapton recorded with Danos and Silvertones. Jimmy Page used a Twin Twelve in the studio. Jimi Hendrix’s first guitar was a Silvertone DC2. You then also don’t sound like everyone else when you use them and that gives you an edge. These git’s don’t sound like a Strat or a Les Paul. They’ve got bags of character, style and a sound that – to me – is unsurpassable. We will have the odd Fender, Gibson or Greatch but we will mainly be searching for Silvertones, Kay’s, Harmony’s, Danelectro, Teisco’s, Kents, and all sorts of little manufacturers from the golden age of guitar building. I’m really into vintage American, European and Japanese copies of the big brands and that’s what I will be mostly stocking instore. We want to import quality kit mainly from the US and Europe for re-sale in Ireland, the UK and Mainland Europe. Offer budding or experienced musicians and producers killer vintage guitars and basses to start with and in the mean time great we will be hunting down and finding vintage amps, synths, effects and recording gear. We feel that all music is recapitulation and a reinterpretation of what has gone before, that the only thing that changes is the perspective of the creators and the knowledge that a good tool will always hold its value and can enable someone to paint a picture relative and fresh in its time. We love the processes and tools used in the past and the present to produce great music. We are passionate about writing playing and recording great music.
